PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

An open home, with thoughtful details.

A vaulted ceiling, custom pantry storage and carefully set tile brought the homeowners’ vision together in Moraga.

Opening up the home

The homeowners wanted an open floor plan with a vaulted ceiling, but the roof ran in the opposite direction from the vault they imagined. We reworked the roof and lifted the beam to create that ceiling. The change also added dimension and character to the exterior.

Small details that make a difference

The pantry combined custom pull-outs with a hidden broom closet, giving everyday items a carefully planned place. Having the same team carry out the structural work, installation and detailed finishes helped the spaces feel unified.

The homeowners also fell in love with hand-painted marble tiles. Setting them behind the range required careful measuring so whole tiles began at the bottom, the edges were finished properly and the pattern sat precisely between the range and its hood.

A home ready to welcome visitors

Three years after the renovation, the home was featured on the Lafayette Juniors Home Tour. Its pantry became a talking point, and the home still looked fresh—a reflection of the homeowners’ care and the attention given to the work.
